Petra (Jordan) Famous for  its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system,  Petra  is also called the 'Rose City'  because of the colour of the stone from which it is carved. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The city of Petra, capital of the Nabataean Arabs, is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, it is Located 240 km south of the capital Amman and 120 km north of the red sea town of Aqaba  ( see the Map ) , Petra the world wonder is undoubtedly Jordan's most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction, and it is visited by tourists from all over the world. 2.The Roman Colosseum (Rome)

Colosseum , also called  Flavian Amphitheatre , giant  amphitheatre  built in  Rome  under the  Flavian emperors . Construction of the Colosseum was begun sometime between 70 and 72  CE  during the reign of  Vespasian . It is located just east of the  Palatine Hill , on the grounds of what was  Nero ’s  Golden House . The artificial lake that was the centrepiece of that palace complex was drained, and the Colosseum was sited there, a decision that was as much symbolic as it was practical. Vespasian, whose path to the throne had relatively humble beginnings, chose to replace the tyrannical emperor’s private lake with a public amphitheatre that could host tens of thousands of Romans. The Colosseum could hold up to  75.000 spectators . Each sector was reserved to a specific class of citizens, based on their importance. 3.Chichen Itza (Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico)

Chichén Itza , ruined ancient  Maya  city occupying an area of 4 square miles (10 square km) in south-central  Yucatán  state,  Mexico . It is located some 90 miles (150 km) east-northeast of  Uxmal  and 75 miles (120 km) east-southeast of the modern city of  Mérida . The only source of water in the arid region around the site is from wells (cenotes) formed by sinkholes in  limestone  formations. Two big cenotes on the site made it a suitable place for the city and gave it its name, from  chi  (“mouths”),  chen  (“wells”), and Itzá, the name of the Maya tribe that settled there. Chichén Itzá was designated a UNESCO  World Heritage site  in 1988. 4.Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu Machu Picchu , also spelled  Machupijchu , site of ancient  Inca  ruins located about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of  Cuzco ,  Peru , in the  Cordillera de Vilcabamba  of the  Andes Mountains . It is perched above the  Urubamba River  valley in a narrow saddle between two sharp peaks—Machu Picchu (“Old Peak”) and Huayna Picchu (“New Peak”)—at an elevation of  7,710  feet (2,350 metres). One of the few major pre-Columbian ruins found nearly intact, Machu Picchu was designated a  UNESCO   World Heritage site  in 1983.
